General Expectations

As a Field Applications Engineer, you will be part of a team that proactively supports customer projects from a technical perspective.  congatec’s Field Application Engineers have a strong knowledge of x86 and ARM system platforms, as well as a high level of enthusiasm for creating the best possible customer experience. 

 

Job Accountabilities

  • Serves as a key technical resource for Sales support activities such as face-to-face sales meetings, demonstrations, preparation of prototypes and other technical related support items.
  • Participates in in-house and external training and learning activities as directed by the department lead.
  • Identifies technical opportunities and economic justification for improvements and communicates those to the customer, Project Manager and/or Sales.
  • Keeps department lead and Sales Manager informed of project status and elevates situations requiring decisions, changes, or management support.
  • Has knowledge and proficiency in computer I/O architectures and implementations.
  • Knowledge of computer hardware design practices, schematic entry tools, Gerber viewer, signal integrity and debugging practices.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and practices (e.g., UL, EN IPC, etc.) that apply to electronic design and testing.
  • Is familiar with modern and legacy Operating Systems such as Linux and Windows, DOS and UEFI shell. Experience with installation, debugging and configuration.
  • Knowledge of SMT manufacturing and test processes.
  • Is familiar with and follows procedures (ISO, Safety, etc.) and project work methodologies for all Systems activities.

 

 Job Qualifications

  • Education: BS degree (engineering, computer science, physics, or math) or MS degree (engineering, computer science, physics, or math)
  • Experience: 10+ years of field support in embedded computing or like industry.

  • Knowledge of applicable laws/policies/principles/etc.
  • Proficient in the use of a personal computer and corresponding programs

  • Ability to manage multiple customer projects simultaneously.

Salary Range

  • $100,000 to $120,000
