Validation Engineer (Product Qualification)/Penang, Malaysia

Position Overview:

• Responsible for software and hardware tests within the product qualification area
• Qualification, validation, and verification of computer on modules and embedded systems
• Testing of specialized IoT applications, including connectivity, reliability, performance, and system integration
• Supporting the release process by ensuring product quality, stability, and compliance with defined requirements

Tasks:

• Define, plan and execute software and hardware qualification tests
• Manage test plans, test cases, and test procedures for embedded products
• Validate system interfaces of Computer-On-Modules in combination with carrier boards and peripherals
• Perform functional and environmental stress tests (internal or with external partners) on integrated products
• Knowledge of Linux-based and / or real-time embedded systems required
• Basic Scripting and programming skills (Python, PowerShell, C)
• Analyze test results, identify defects, and document issues in a structured way
• Work closely with hardware development, software development, product management, and quality teams
• Support root cause analysis for hardware and software-related failures
• Verify bug fixes and product improvements during development and qualification phases
• Set up, maintain, and improve test environments, test equipment, and automation frameworks
• Support certification and compliance-related testing where required
• Create clear qualification reports and technical documentation

Profile

• Experience with product qualification in an industrial or embedded electronics environment
• Sound knowledge of different operating systems needed
• Familiarity with software qualification mechanisms (ISTQB of advantage)
• Knowledge of long term stability testing, and reliability testing
• Familiarity with cloud-connected IoT platforms and device management systems
• Knowledge of version control systems and issue tracking methods
• Experience with standards, compliance testing, or certification processes
• Structured and quality-oriented working style
• Strong attention to detail
• Good communication skills across hardware, software and quality teams
• Ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic development environment
