Production Engineer - SMT & EMS Manufacturing Excellence, Penang Malaysia

We are looking for an experienced Production Engineer with a strong background in SMT and electronics ownership of our outsourced production environment.
Operating in a fabless manufacaturing model, you will act as the technical interface between our internal engineering teams and our EMS partners.
Your focus will be on ensuring robust production processes, resolving manufacturing issues, driving continous improvement, and maintaining a high level of product and process quality throughout the production lifecycle.
Your tasks:
- Take technical ownership of SMT and electronics manufacturing processes at our EMS partners
- Act as the key engineering interface between R&D, Quality, Operations and external manufacturing partners
- Support and challenge EMS partners in the industrialization and ramp-up of new products
- Analyze production failures, process deviations and recurring manufacturing issues an drive sustainable corrective actions
- Lead structured root cause analysis and problem-solving activities using methods such as 8D, 5-Why, Ishikawa and related quality tools
- Define, implement and verify corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) together with the EMS partners
- Define and evaluate manufacturing processes, process parameters and production data to identify risks and improvement opportunities
- Support DFM/DFF reviews and contribute manufacturing expertise during product development an industrialization
- Participate in production audits, technical supplier reviews and manufacturing readiness assessments
- Ensure that lessons learned from production issues are systematically transferred into future products and processes
- Drive and support "New Product Introduction (NPI)" activities internally and at EMS from prototype to mass production
- Plan, coordinate and technically assess "First Article Inspection (FAI)" activities and ensure that identifications are resolved before series release
Your profile:

Serval years of professional experience in electronics manufacturing , SMT, production engineering or industrialization

Bachelors Degree in Electronics / Production Engineering or similiar
- Strong practical understanding of PCBA manufacturing processes and SMT production technologies
- Proven experience with NPI, production ramp-up, FAI and transfer-to-series-activities
- Experience working with and technically managing EMS / contract manufacturing partners
- Solid industrialization / production engineering background with the ability to evaluate manufacturing processes beyond individual production steps
- Strong knowledge and practical application of quality tools including FMEA, APQP, root cause analysis methods (Ishikawa, 5-Why, 8D) and Control Plans
- Proven experience in troubleshooting complex production and quality issues and implementing sustainable corrective actions
- Good understanding of process capability, yield improvement, KPIs and production risk assessment
- Strong analytical mindset combined with a hands-on approach to problem solving
- Ability to challenge manufacturing partners professionally and drive actions to closure

- Willingness to travel to EMS and manufacturing locations when required
