Test Development Engineer / Penang, Malaysia

Tasks:

• Develop and maintain hardware and software test solutions for congatec computer modules used in mass production and service centers.
• Define test concepts and test specifications based on product requirements and manufacturing needs.
• Design and implement test hardware, including interface circuits, fixtures, and control electronics.
• Develop and maintain test software and automation scripts (e.g. Python, Bash, C).
• Support prototype and pilot builds, including validation of test setups and debugging of hardware issues.
• Analyze and troubleshoot product and test failures during development and production.
• Select and evaluate electronic components and test equipment for new test systems.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, including schematics, test procedures, and system documentation.
• Ensure proper version control and lifecycle management of test systems and software.
• Collaborate with manufacturing partners and suppliers to deploy and maintain test solutions in production.
• Provide training and technical support for manufacturing teams operating the test systems.
• Support continuous improvement of test coverage, reliability and efficiency in production testing.

Profile:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in hardware/software development for test systems or manufacturing environments recommended.
• Strong understanding of embedded systems (x86/ARM platforms) and hardware debugging.
• Experience with Linux-based systems, firmware or BIOS environments is an advantage.
• Programming experience in Python, C, or Bash for test automation.
• Familiarity with functional testing, production test systems, and automated test equipment (ATE).
• Ability to read and create schematics and hardware documentation.
• Experience with test instrumentation (oscilloscope, power supplies, signal generators, etc.).
• Familiarity with version control systems and engineering documentation tools.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Good communication skills and ability to work in an international engineering environment.
• Structured and self-organized working style.
• Basic soldering and lab skills are a plus.
